Cellulose insulation can be installed in a number of different ways. One is wet spray, which we feel is better suited to large, commercial installations. We install cellulose dry, either “dense packed” in walls or cathedral ceilings, or loose blown on attic decks. Whe “dense packing” woven sheet material called “insulweb” is attached to the studs or rafters, generally on the interior of the building. A hose, which is connected to the insulation-blowing machine, is inserted through the insulweb and the cavity is filled or “dense packed” to a density of 3.5 pounds/cubic feet. At this density, it is guaranteed not to settle. Cathedral ceilings with a depth of 10” or more can be dense packed without the need of ventilation or vapor barrier.

(Blown cellulose insulation, because it fills every nook and cranny, can effectively insulate complex architectural features.)
